I think there are a lot of great Dads in America and my dad is definitely on the top of that list! Here are just a few reasons why!
C - Caring. He cares not only for us, his family, but for all of the students he works with.
O - Out of this world fun! He likes to make sure we all are having fun in life!
O - Oh yeah, he loves cookies!! His favorites are Snickerdoodles.
K - Kind. Not only is he kind, he has taught me how important kindness is in this world!
I - Interesting. He can make even homework interesting!
E - Extraordinary! He loves his family more than words can say. I just know it!
S - Super! If there was a show called Super Dad he would be the star!

My Dad, Keith Wigal, IS the Great American Dad because he is just like a cookie! If you take a cookie recipe you have a list of
ingredients that one must follow for the basic dough. In fact, he is really just like any other Great Dad. Except he has a lot
of cookie add in's that make him perfect. Some days I thought his recipe was loaded with sweetness and other days too tart.
In the recipe he followed, I know he worked very hard to find the best ingredients to mix together so that I could have a
foundation to build my cookie recipe upon as an adult. Through all of my "growing up" years, he perfected his recipe by
giving me a lot of add inčs too. I am glad that he has added in so many so that I can be the perfect cut out of a cookie
just like him.

Ode to Daddy - My Great American Dad
My Daddy is kind, gentle and sweet
Though he just can't help getting cookies to eat.
Indeed he enjoys sweets a plenty
Even though he just recently dropped pounds totaling twenty!
Eating your cookies makes him smile
Then later that day he just runs an extra mile
My mother has a trick she loves to use,
Come to the mall with me 'Honey' and I will get you a cookie you just can't refuse!

My Childrens Dad is a Great American Dad because he always makes time to be with them even though he has to go away sometimes
because he's in the military. He is my sons boy scout leader, and takes us camping. He even taught my daughter and son how
to make homemade cobbler in a dutch oven. He also taught them how to ride their bicycles. They wanted to but were scared,
he made them feel comfortable and safe. He helps them with their homework and makes them feel special. We love him.

Dad, you're great, you're like no other.
Raising three girls, and then my brother.
You're Superman, Confucius and Ward Cleaver,
Allowing us to grow up like "Leave it to Beaver."
You insulated us from the world "out there,"
Showering us with love, optimism and care.
You cooked us great meals; youčre a master chef,
And took care of Grandma, although she was deaf.
We played instruments and sports, and never were cold,
Although you worked long, hard hours; it sometimes took its toll.
You helped us find laughter when we were upset,
Cleaned our skinned knees and taught us to stay out debt.
You were frugal and saved to pay for our education,
You were our biggest champion; you showed such dedication.
Wečll never forget the sacrifices you made,
Our happy memories of a love-filled childhood will never fade.

Runner Up: Mary Hofman (Saginaw, MI)
Take a marriage that is just past its 56th year and over 30 years dedicated to civil service as a war veteran, police
officer and investigator. Then add six sons and four daughters with not one bad egg in the bunch... well one son was a
little iffy but he turned out much better than expected... no jail time! Sprinkle in 22 (and counting) grandchildren
and a dash of great grandchildren. Mix all these main ingredients well then frost it with a positive
(and sometimes stubborn) attitude that he can still do anything anytime at anyplace even at the age of 81
and you got one heck of a GREAT AMERICAN DAD! Oh and his most favorite sport is baseball and favorite food
my Mom's homemade apple pie but I have to be honest he likes American meatloaf more than hot dogs--the Polish kind :-)

When I think about my DAD, GREAT and AMERICAN both come to mind. That's why he really is the Great American Dad!
AMERICAN - Growing up in a difficult childhood, I am very proud of my dad for his hard work and dedication that made him
the success he is today. As an Air Force Academy Graduate and Vietnam Veteran, he has a love and devotion for his country
that grows even stronger today. He is passionate about our country and keeping it the Land of the Free and the Brave and
strives to make a difference in all that he does.
GREAT - Even as an adult, he still inspires me to be all that I can be. Not many daughters get the privelege of competing
against their 61 year old father in triathlons and running races (and losing every time!). He doesn't quit, is smart, is
kind and generous to others, and is full of life. He climbs mountains, travels the world, and is hoping to be one of
the first passengers into space (a lifelong dream).
He's just one super cool guy!
